5 Reasons to Camp in the Autumn

mre

Camping is an all year round activity, providing you have the right equipment! When green turns to oranges and reds, Autumn can be a beautiful time to enjoy the outdoors.

Here are some of our favourite reasons for Autumnal camping;

1.Enjoying warm drinks by the campfire

Campfires may be an all year round camping staple, but there’s something about bundling up, hot chocolate or tea in hand and warming up by the fire in the Autumn. Cosy!

2. Foraging

Foraging is great in the Autumn months- sweet chestnuts line the trails, rosehips can be collected, blackberries are at peak ripeness in September, acorns, mushrooms and more.

3. Quieter

As people tend to camp more in the summer, you can enjoy open spaces virtually empty in the Autumn months. Get some well needed outdoor time in while relishing the quiet.

4. Brisk Air

Wrapping up warm, layering and feeling the fresh crisp air on your face is one of life’s simple pleasures. Warming up by the campfire after a long day of hiking in  the fresh air is an extra bonus.

5. Foliage

Would it be an Autumn camping list if it we didn’t mention the gorgeous foliage? The leaves changing signalling Autumn is spectacular. Hues or orange, red and yellow across the country. Don’t forget to look up at the beautiful trees while hiking.
